The Name Behind the Brand

The name Roper & Hide Co. is more than a business name-it carries the story of my family, my heritage, and the values that shaped who I am. "Roper" is my maiden name, honoring the family that raised me and the Western heritage that has always been a part of my life. It also reflects the horse community that shaped my childhood. "Hide" represents my love for genuine leather, timeless craftmanship and pieces made to last. Together they tell the story of where I come from and the values I hope to share with every customer.

Roper & Hide Co. was inspired by the people who shaped my love for the Western way of life. I was raised in Virginia by my Dad. Mike Roper, and my Momma, Diane Roper who taught me the value of hard work, honesty, and treating people like family. 

My late grandparents, Ray and Julia Melton, instilled in our family a deep appreciation for horses, craftsmanship, and the traditions that continue to inspire me today. Alongside my brother, Adam Roper, my family has remained closely connected to Virginia's horse community for generations. 

Whether it was long days at horse shows, time spend around the barn, or family gathered together, I learned that the things built to last are the things made with honesty, quality, and heart.

That heritage has been woven into everything I do, and today I have the privilege of passing those same values with my children and grandchildren. Every bag and accessory is personally selected because it reflects the timeless Western style and lasting quality I grew up admiring.
